Dr. Marie-Thérèse Dangles graduated as an engineer from the École Nationale Supérieure des Techniques Avancées (ENSTA Paris) and subsequently obtained a Master of Science in Biomedical Engineering from Imperial College London. She went on to complete her medical degree at Université Paris-Cité, qualifying as a neuropaediatrician. She pursued subspecialty training in paediatric epileptology through a fellowship in neuropaediatrics and clinical neurophysiology at Hôpital Necker–Enfants Malades (Paris). She is currently a full-time child epileptologist within the paediatric neurosurgery department at Hôpital Fondation Adolphe de Rothschild (Paris), a unit led by Dr. Ferrand-Sorbets.
Dr. Dangles works in close collaboration with the multidisciplinary epilepsy surgery team of the paediatric neurosurgery department, with the goal of designing tailored surgical strategies for children with drug-resistant epilepsy. Her clinical and research expertise encompasses the presurgical cognitive assessment of paediatric patients, the analysis of cognition and cerebral plasticity under epileptic pressure, and the long-term cognitive outcome following epilepsy surgery.
Dr. Dangles research focuses on the application of artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms to elucidate the cortical encoding of language during speech production, with the aim of characterising neuroplasticity mechanisms driven by the epileptic disease burden. The ultimate goal is to optimise surgical planning—particularly with respect to language function preservation and post-operative language recovery—in paediatric candidates for epilepsy surgery.
